Start of "ANGARA A5"

At the Plesetsk military cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region, the first test launch of the Angara-A5 heavy-class launch vehicle was successfully completed.

President Vladimir Putin watched its launch and flight via videoconference. The rocket launch took place in the normal mode. The President called the test of the heavy Angara a big and very important event for the space industry.

Vladimir Putin recalled that the most advanced technologies were used in this rocket, and with its help it is guaranteed to launch existing and promising military and scientific satellites into any orbit. The President recalled that all parts and assemblies of the Angara are Russian, and in its development, advanced technologies were used that meet modern standards, including environmental requirements, which significantly reduces the burden on the environment. “In the future, these missiles will be launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome and will replace their predecessors Proton-M and Rokot,” the head of state stressed. He recalled that the completion of development work is planned for 2020. Until that date, specialists will have to perform a number of launches of carriers of various classes.

The complex includes a line of missiles of four types - from a light carrier with a payload capacity of 1.7-3.8 tons to a heavy version of 28.5-35 tons. In addition, unlike other rockets, the Angara does not run on poisonous heptyl, but on environmentally friendly fuels - kerosene and liquid oxygen.
