World Grain Forum, Sochi

The events of the 2nd World Grain Forum were held on November 18–19 in Sochi.

The First World Grain Forum, held in 2009 in St. Petersburg on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation, was the biggest business event of the grain market and an authoritative platform for discussing global food security.

About 2,500 people took part in the 2nd World Grain Forum, including official delegations from over 50 countries, heads of international organisations and financial institutions, representatives of major Russian and foreign agricultural businesses, leading world scientists and analysts, about 250 Russian and foreign journalists.

The Forum was aimed at ensuring food security under conditions of water and land scarcity, soil fertility fall, and climate change, and boosting international cooperation for global grain market stability during the economic slowdown.

The Forum included summit meetings between the heads of foreign delegations and international organisations, representatives of Russian and global agricultural businesses.
